Kanuk garments.

my Kanuk garments (sleeve
and/or pant length)?

How should I wash my Kanuk? Please refer to the Maintenance Advice column: Maintenance Advice
Can I wash my winter jacket
in my washer using the delicate
cycle?
Not unless it is a front-loading washer with no agitator. If you put your Kanuk jacket in a
regular top loading washer, the agitator could damage or even destroy your coat's insulation.
Therefore, never wash a Kanuk with a high-loft insulation in this type of washing machine.
Where can I find a
front-loading washer?
You can find large washing machines that have been designed to wash eiderdowns
in laundromats or at the dry cleaners.
My Kanuk coat is stained.
Can I dry clean it?
No. The strong chemical products used for dry cleaning will damage your coat's
insulation fibres.
Can I have my Kanuk coat
washed at the dry cleaners?
Yes, provided that your dry cleaner is able to wash your coat in water. Provide the dry
cleaner with a copy of the brochure “Care Instructions”, and ask that they comply with
these instructions.
Can I wash my Kanuk
by hand?
Yes. However, the results will never be as good as when you (or your dry cleaner) would
wash it in a front-loading washer. The reason for this is that the fabric's impermeability makes
it difficult to rinse the coat properly, and our tests show that soap residue leaves black circles
when the rinsing is insufficient.
After washing my coat, is
it recommended to let my
Kanuk air dry?
No. Our tests show that this drying method may leave dark circles on the bottom of the coat.
Dry it in the dryer with cold air (AIR FLUFF) instead. Maintenance Advice
Is it preferable to use a
liquid soap?
No. According to our tests, powder detergents give better results. We especially
recommend using Arctic Power Ultra powder or Cheers Ultra powder detergents.
Why should I apply
fabric protector?
When you buy your coat, the fabric is soaked with a protector that makes water bead on the
garment and protects it from dirt. This protector vanishes through use and wash. Please refer
to our Maintenance Advice column for more details: Maintenance Advice
Can I dye my Kanuk? No. The fabrics selected by Kanuk are synthetic (nylon or polyester). The dyeing of these
fibres involves complex chemical processes that can only be done by the manufacturer and
cannot be duplicated at home. Only the dyeing of garments made of natural fibres, such as
wool or cotton, should be attempted at home.
